Automatic serial/lot traceability

ST provides automated marking and tracking solutions for identification and traceability of parts and products. Traceability systems are oriented to enable greater customization in manufacturing and to help verifying warranties as well as reducing risk in the event of a product recall.

Depending on application characteristics, systems may be built either through the use of marking and vision technologies or through the use of RFID tags:

Vision:
The sum of advanced marking and vision give our customers more than the parts:

1. Direct Part Mark Identification (DPMI) using laser, inkjet, dot peen, or electro-chemical etch marking systems for 1D and 2D codes.

1. Machine vision for collecting all the needed information at check points.

RFID:
RFID-based systems (Radio Frequency Identification). This devices is used to interrogate parts carrying a microchip via electromagnetic waves.
