Decentralized measurements

ST offers multi-channel, intelligent, real-time data processing and data reduction measuring systems for applications where signals from scattered sites are to be transferred noise-free to a central. Dedicated solutions are built on the imc CANSAS system.

Several modules can be networked via CAN-Bus. Analog signals may connected, dynamically recorded and transmitted near their sensor sources. The modules include high-performance, synchronizable measurement amplifiers, some modules even providing the necessary sensor supply. Their internal DSP performs real-time data processing and data reduction, sampling rate is up to 1 kHz per channel and resolution up to 16 bits. The digitalized measurement signals are outputted as CAN messages in accordance with ISO 11898, or as CANopen messages. These are universally importable by measurement devices having a CAN-interface or also by automation systems, machine control units, etc.

CANSAS applications include:
  • Road and rail vehicles, air and space travel, manufacturing and power plants, etc.
  • Wherever measurement signals from scattered sites are to be transferred cheaply and noise-free to a central collector
  • Implementation of analog sensors on intelligent CAN-bus sensors
  • In cases requiring inexpensive, potential-isolated acquisition of many channels
  • Wherever conditions in the measurement's environment require a compact, robust structure and a wide temperature range, so that conventional measurement equipment is not an option
CANSAS functions:
  • Basic arithmetic
  • Basic mathematical functions such as: absolute value, value assignment, square root, sawtooth...
